Christmas T&L Showcase

As part of our Certificate in Teaching and Learning, we participated in a Christmas T&L Showcase. This had presentations from past pupils, advice on completion of our assignments, and many workshops. I particularly enjoyed Cormac's workshop on data analysis. It showed with great detail how to use moodle to analyse student performance and how to automatically construct meaningful feedback based on marks achieved in tests, online quizzes, attendance etc. The performance analysis tool was very useful for pointing out areas to target - e.g. majority of students under-performing in a particular quiz or question in an assignment shows that the class in general did not grasp a certain learning outcome, allowing the teacher to revisit this topic or problem again before the end of term. I hope to use these tools in the coming semester.
